Policy

Alberta Pulse Growers is committed to maintaining and enhancing the business environment in which producers operate to ensure that growing pulses in Alberta remains a profitable venture. Policy work is a combination of analyzing new legislation, reviewing policies from other jurisdictions, analyzing the impact of programs and advocating for sound policies and programs that retain and enhance our competitiveness as a sector.

Climate change, sustainable sourcing, labour and farm safety, maximum residue limits, introduction and phasing out of crop protection products are all areas in which APG is working with our provincial cropping sector partners, Team Alberta, the Crop Sector Working Group as well as our national organizations including Pulse Canada, Grain Growers of Canada, the Prairie Pesticide Minor Use Consortium and the Canadian Special Cops Association.

APG also engages at all levels of government alongside our cropping sector and industry counterparts though various working groups, roundtables and other forums to ensure the interests of our members are well represented.
